Pharmacy Redesign

Phlo Digital Pharmacy | July 2021

When I joined Phlo's PSO (Pharmacy Systems and Operations) team that looks after our internal software used in the pharmacy one of the first tasks I took on was to evaluate our current pharmacy systems for UX and UI improvements.

As this is used by all of our pharmacists on a daily basis my first step was to arrange a call with the team and find out what they think. After a great session I discovered there was a number of key issues that made their days a bit more difficult, these issues ranged from buttons being too small causing accidental clicks to patients data being too close to each other making it difficult to differentiate between two sets of data.

I was fortunate to be able to watch the team complete some of their daily tasks, this was invaluable as I was seeing the system being used by real users and how they interacted with different elements and actions.

After collecting the feedback from the team in the pharmacy I spoke to my team members in PSO, we got a number of typical tasks carried out with the system and each carried them out taking notes as we went. This was a great exercise for finding some of the smaller issues.

I worked with our other UX/UI Design Leads on our other products to incorporate a lot of the design languages and patterns used across our patient facing products to freshen up the UI and make it more consistent with the rest of the business.
